Sumari: | This paper presents the result of an investigation of domestic water consumption (Social consumption) in the city of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. The study was carried out at the Basic Geostatistical Area level to determine the urban effects of a sociodemographic, climatic and urbanization type that influence water consumption. We use the data registered in the operating agency Agua de Hermosillo, as well as the census indicators registered by the National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Informatics (INEGI) with their respective urban cartography. The correlation between the independent variables and the water consumption were analyzed, observing important associations. Consecutively, the best model of water consumption was determined through multiple linear regression using ordinary least squares. The results revealed five variables in the model, which were statistically significant and explain 47.5% of the variability of domestic water consumption. The results can contribute to improve current knowledge of the factors that influence water use and be useful in planning water resources for the supply that is provided to the community. |
