This paper presents the result of an investigation of domestic water consumption (Social consumption) in the city of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. We use the data registered in the operating agency Agua de Hermosillo, as well as the census indicators registered by the National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Informatics (INEGI) with their respective urban cartography. The correlation between the independent variables and the water consumption were analyzed, observing important associations. Consecutively, the best model of water consumption was determined through multiple linear regression using ordinary least squares. The results revealed five variables in the model, which were statistically significant and explain 47.5% of the variability of domestic water consumption. The results can contribute to improve current knowledge of the factors that influence water use and be useful in planning water resources for the supply that is provided to the community. |

Este artículo presenta el resultado de una investigación del consumo de agua doméstica (Consumo social) en la ciudad de Hermosillo, Sonora, México. El estudio se desarrolló a nivel de Área Geoestadìstica Básica para determinar los efectos urbanos de tipo sociodemográfico, climático y de urbanización que influyen en el consumo de agua. Utilizamos los datos registrados en el organismo operador Agua de Hermosillo, así como los indicadores censales registrados por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística Geografía e Informática (INEGI) con su respectiva cartografía urbana. Se analizaron la correlación entre las variables independientes y el consumo de agua. Consecutivamente se determinó el mejor modelo del consumo de agua a través de regresión lineal múltiple utilizando mínimos cuadrados ordinarios. Los resultados revelaron cinco variables en el modelo, mismas que fueron estadísticamente significativas y explican el 47.5% de la variabilidad del consumo de agua doméstica. Los resultados pueden contribuir a mejorar el conocimiento actual de los factores que influyen en el uso del agua y ser útil en la planificación del recurso hídrico para el abasto que se otorga a la comunidad. Cet article présente le résultat d'une enquête sur la consommation d'eau domestique (consommation sociale) dans la ville de Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexique. L'étude a été réalisée au niveau de la zone géostatistique de base pour déterminer les effets urbains d'un type sociodémographique, climatique et d'urbanisation qui influencent la consommation d'eau. Nous utilisons les données enregistrées dans l'agence d'exploitation Agua de Hermosillo, ainsi que les indicateurs de recensement enregistrés par l'Institut national de statistique, de géographie et d'informatique (INEGI) avec leur cartographie urbaine respective. La corrélation entre les variables indépendantes et la consommation d'eau a été analysée, en observant des associations importantes. Consécutivement, le meilleur modèle de consommation d'eau a été déterminé par régression linéaire multiple en utilisant les moindres carrés ordinaires. Les résultats ont révélé cinq variables dans le modèle, qui étaient statistiquement significatives et expliquent 47,5% de la variabilité de la consommation d'eau domestique. Les résultats peuvent contribuer à améliorer les connaissances actuelles sur les facteurs qui influencent l'utilisation de l'eau et être utiles dans la planification des ressources en eau pour l'approvisionnement qui est fourni à la communauté. Este artigo apresenta o resultado de uma investigação do consumo doméstico de água (consumo social) na cidade de Hermosillo, Sonora, México. O estudo foi realizado no nível da Área Geoestatística Básica para determinar os efeitos urbanos de um tipo sociodemográfico, climático e de urbanização que influenciam o consumo de água. Utilizamos os dados registrados na agência operacional Agua de Hermosillo, bem como os indicadores censitários registrados pelo Instituto Nacional de Estatística, Geografia e Informática (INEGI) com suas respectivas cartografias urbanas. A correlação entre as variáveis independentes e o consumo de água foi analisada, observando associações importantes. Consecutivamente, o melhor modelo de consumo de água foi determinado através de regressão linear múltipla usando mínimos quadrados comuns. Os resultados revelaram cinco variáveis no modelo, que foram estatisticamente significantes e explicam 47,5% da variabilidade do consumo doméstico de água. Os resultados podem contribuir para melhorar o conhecimento atual dos fatores que influenciam o uso da água e ser úteis no planejamento de recursos hídricos para o suprimento fornecido à comunidade.
