The Juvenal Baracco’s Peruvian Air Force Officer Training School (1981-1984) was chosen as study case because it is a representative —and barely known— example of the postmodern thought in the early 80’s. The school’s original proposal —including buildings and details not performed in the work— was taken as a reference to explain the criticism to modernity with an architecture that puts aside historicisms and folklorisms but establishes complex relationships in its composition through a process of abstraction, imagination and reinterpretation of Lima’s spatial typology. Este artículo tiene como objetivo confrontar las teorías posmodernas difundidas en el Perú con el proyecto arquitectónico. Se ha elegido a la Escuela de Oficiales de la Fuerza Aérea del Perú (1981-1984), de Juvenal Baracco, como caso de estudio porque es un ejemplo representativo —y poco conocido— del pensamiento posmoderno de inicios de los años ochenta. Se ha tomado como referencia la propuesta original —que incluye edificios y detalles no realizados en la obra— para explicar la crítica a la modernidad con una arquitectura que deja de lado los historicismos y folklorismos, pero que, en cambio, establece relaciones complejas en su composición mediante un proceso de abstracción, figuración y reinterpretación de la tipología espacial de la ciudad de Lima.
